Taken from the LP 'Rock In Rock City' Label: Music World Records 2 MW 1112 Country: Virgin Islands Released: 1979 I do not own this record as of yet. Rock City is a song by American rapper Royce da 5'9, released as the third single from his debut album, Rock City Version 2. 0, which was released in 2002 through E1 Music formerly Koch Records and Game Recordings, after another record label had turned down his first version of the album. The song also features vocals from rapper Eminem, becoming Eminem's debut appearance on one of Royce's solo albums. The single was released on January 5, 2002, the same date as its same titled album was. The Chris Duarte Group : Infinite Energy,альбом, рецезия, трек-лист, mp3, тексты песен. Thrill Jockey. Guitarist Dustin Wong becomes the first member of on-hiatus Ponytail to release a solo album, a 40-minute piece cut into 15 tracks, then re-done on a 2nd CD. When I heard that Baltimore quartet Ponytail grew out of an assignment in a college art class, I expected them to sound heavily conceptual and musically primitive- more interested in ideas than technique. It turned out they did have an abstract side, especially in the word-less vocals of Molly Siegel, but they were also seriously proficient musicians. Five stars for the fantastic opening track! And did I wish that this very talented group of musicians would have leveraged their "Infinite Love Theme" to create more gems like it for the rest of the album. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case here. What makes matters worse, is, that this group resorted to very generic sounding, Caribbean-flavoured, Soca-type of songs plus a few, mediocre ballads on top of that.

I can only speculate that this was because the production company behind Infinite Love Experience wanted to release an album with a greater commercial appeal after all. Don't get me wrong: Most of the songs surely will appeal to a sun-soaked "Club Med" crowd high on Piña Coladas. And there is actually nothing wrong with that IF, AGAIN, the group would not have come out with such a stunning, sophisticated and beautiful song like "Infinite Love Theme" in the first place.

Hence, the rest of the albums' songs are somewhat a disappointment if you were hoping to hear more like the opening track.

Thank goodness, the LP closes on an artistically high note after all. The group "Infinite Love Experience" comes up with one last, really good song, "Don't Know What", which is more in the vein of the absolutely outstanding and mesmerizing opener.

This last song also sounds like a promise by a group that had every intention to expand their great, artistic capabilities at first in order to achieve true musical greatness at the end. Unfortunately, they got side tracked "commercially" and thereby also distracted "musically" along the way. But they left us with a promise to be more consistent and to come up with songs without any compromises for their next outing. A promise they kept, by the way, with their second album Infinite Love Experience - Love Will Never Die!.

Last but not least: This album is super hard to find and you will have to pay big bucks for it, and if it is just for the outstanding opening track alone.

☝️But be aware however, that this pressing is not that great unfortunately. As always with these more "exotic" pressings, it can be a hit or miss audible. Here we don't have a complete "miss" but don't expect anything "audiophile" either even if you get a sealed copy.
